Liturgical Expression | “I Understand”

I love my dance ministry. I love ministering to those who will listen to what God says through me. Through my expression. So it’s no wonder when God spoke to me about this song, it was exactly what I wanted to express.

I deal with so much, and at the point of that dance I was dealing with a lot. And I asked God “Why?” Why do you keep taking people from me? Why do you cut off some people from my life? Why am I carrying the weight of others? Why can’t people get it together? Why do I feel alone? Why don’t you speak to me?

Asking God a whole bunch of ‘why’s’ didn’t make him speed up his process for me. He answers prayers according to what He see fit at that time in my life. I was praying for one thing, but I realized God was answering some other prayers on my behalf. Some stuff He was starting to shift around. Like he was telling me, “You still worried about that little boy huh? If you only knew what is about to happen…” And I laughed. He was right.

Sometimes we feel like God doesn’t hear us. But in fact He does. He listens. Carefully. But His word stays true. Everything, good and bad works together for our good. But He also said this happens to those who love Him. And I learned, everything has a purpose for our lives. Good and bad, everything has its purpose. Everything has its season. And just like that, we have seasons where God speaks to us very little. I translate this as to meditate more on his Word and be prayerful. In other seasons, God speaks to us blunt and direct. In these seasons, God is telling us to MOVE. SHIFT. GO. And we have to be able to learn when He tells us to.

So for when you feel you are by yourself and God is not with you, or you don’t know what to do when you feel like you don’t hear Him, some scriptures to meditate on:

Deuteronomy 31:6 – “…The LORD your God is the one who is going with you. He won’t abandon you or leave you.”

Psalm 46:10 – “Let go of your concerns! Then you will know that I am God…”

Hebrews 13:5 – “ …I will never abandon you or leave you.”

Philippians 4:6 – “Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks.”

1 Thessalonians 5:17 – “Never stop praying.”

*GOD’S WORD Translation*

If you don’t know how to pray, just give thanks that He is good. Thank Him for loving you. And ask Him to make his spirit evident in your life and to guide you in the right direction.

As for me, ministering to the Smokie Norful song “I Understand” is what God says to me in times where I don’t feel like He is there.

Enjoy and be blessed.

xoxo,

Amber
